Excelent work about reef keeping,
I received the book on Friday 16-12-2011 and since I was not home I had to pick it up at the post office on Monday 19-12-2011. So far I browsed it rapidly but already noticed the very well and methodical way the book is organized. Also this book besides the magnificent photos and rich detailed information, deals right at the beginning with an aspect often underestimated or overlooked, which is the spouse or family factor, a key aspect to take into consideration for success in the reef keeping activities that at times can be time consuming or put some negative pressure on the family. This key factor is not exclusive of reef-keeping!!!, in fact it is present in the majority of activities done by both Man and Women, but it is often overlooked or underestimated. Tony shows how careful he his by considering and leading others to consider this very important aspect, rendering the activity more family oriented and friendly and thus more interesting, more humane. I will do further comments as I read the book. TY Tony, TY Julian, TY Two Little Fishies.

Post Scriptum: I also recommend this book by Julian Sprung Corals: A Quick Reference Guide (Oceanographic Series)

|Must have coral reef book!!,
I was looking for a good all around coral reef book that could help me with new ideas for my current system, but wasn’t interested in a book that you need a PHD to read and understand. I came across The Coral Reef Aquarium: From Inception to Completion, by Tony Vargas and gave it a try. Well I was completely blown away after taking a peek through when the book arrived!! The book covers from the beginning thought process needed when deciding the How’s & What’s of an idea to complete execution. The book gives several ‘real life’ successful coral reef tank set ups from a small Nano all the way up to a large 1,400+ gallon system and everything in between. It covers by separate chapters in great detail and gives you a complete understating how each reef system was created and maintained to become a success. There are very easy to read text, diagrams, and TONS of examples of many way to set up a reef tank. All of this is packed in with absolutely gorgeous pictures of many coral reef tanks, fish, corals, and the nuts & bolts that make these tanks a success…and I mean PACKED FULL!!
This is a great book for ANY reef hobbyist that is just starting out to a seasoned veteran. I am glad I purchased it and I would highly recommend this book if you are interested in keeping a successful coral reef tank!
