Mini DIY CO2 Reactor in Aquarium (prototype 2 of 2)
I’ve been experimenting with DIY (do-it-yourself) CO2 injection systems lately. This is the second attempt and video, and it seems to be working quite well now. CO2, or Carbon Dioxide is required by aquarium plants for growth. Keen aquarium keepers who like to grow plants incorporate systems to mix CO2 into the water. This is what this little system does. I’ve been looking at a lot of DIY systems, but most are large and unsightly. I thought I’d make a mini version that dissolves about 1 bubble every 1.5 seconds. Please feel free to comment with questions or ideas. Jarrad

@koontzman123- did you really think youd find aquarium check valves at home depot? lfs or petco/petsmart will have them for anywhere from 2 to 4 bucks. if you go to petsmart check out the clearance section as they can have some real good deals on internal filters, powerheads, and tubing ect

very cool vid
is the reactor really necessary? couldnt you just use the co2 output tube in the tank to bubble or do the gasses just rise to the surface? is that reactor mostly just to help pull the co2 from the output or is it needed to help solubility

@koontzman123
Co2 is like an anestasia to fish. Maybe add less yeast to the bottle?

did anyone have a problem with fish going a little “loopy” after introduction of C02?
I had a Neon Tetra die, and a Glowlight Tetra keeps swimming upside down or unbalanced.
Other than that, after a couple days some brownish plants have started sprouting green whereas they were going further brown before.
